     Laini Taylor on tullut aikaisemmin tutuksi varmasti monelle Karou, savun tytär-kirjasta. Hänen uusinta sarjaa ei ole ainakaan vielä suomennettu, mutta halusin silti päästä lukemaan teoksen. Strange the dreamer on kaksiosaisen sarjan avaus. Toinen osa, Muse of nightmares, on myös jo ilmestynyt ja siihen olisi itsekin tarkoitus tarttua vielä lähitulevaisuudessa.

     Strange the dreamer kertoo siis Lazlo Strangesta ja hänen matkastaan kohti Weep-nimistä kaupunkia. Lazlon ollessa pieni, hän kuulee useamman tarinan kyseisesta kaupungista, mutta eräänä päivänä paikan nimi katoaa kaikkien muistista. Tästä alkaa Lazlon matka ja jännittäviä tilanteita sattuu eteen kerran jos toisenkin.

     Kirja edustaa sitä melko normaalia YA-fantasiaa. Juoni tempaa mukaansa, maailma on hyvin rakennettu ja totta kai välissä on myös pieniä romantiikan hippuja. Taylorin kirjoitustyyli luo omanlaisen, maagisen tunnelman. Tykkäsin kirjasta alusta loppuun asti ja toivoisin todella, että kirja saisi jossain vaiheessa suomennoksenkin. Ja tosiaan, jatko-osa olisi tarkoitus jossain vaiheessa päästä lukemaan.
